Background:
Sensei's Pietie Muller, the late Sidney Carlse and J. Van Wyk established the Oudtshoorn Karate Centre in 1977 with technical support from Sensei Nigel Jackson and the Cape Town Karate Centre. The Oudtshoorn Karate Centre weathered difficult times during the 70's and 80's but survived because of the resolve of the founder instructors and the support of large sections of the Oudtshoorn community to adhere to International high standards. Many excellent Black Belts, champions and senior instructors have their origins in the Oudtshoorn Karate Centre.
The Oudtshoorn Karate Centre is almost three decades old being the longest established Karate Club in the South West District. The high standard set has been maintained to this day; through great instructors like Sensei Marc Saayman 4th Dan (Yon Dan), Sensei Petri Conradie 3rd Dan (San Dan), and the Dojo's current Dojo head, Sensei Sageas Mc Kenna 2nd Dan (NiDan).
